There is a special charm to Mad Libs, the traditional word game with fill-in-the-blank sentences that captivates children. Even if they start off uninterested, they quickly become engrossed and end up bursting into laughter. That was the case when my daughter and I tried the Easter Eggstravaganza Mad Libs book. Initially reluctant, she ended up requesting to fill out a third one after two rounds and laughed so hard while reading the completed story that she actually fell off her chair. The stories are light-hearted and amusing, not focusing on religious themes, with titles like “History of the Jelly Bean,” “Rabbits Run Amok,” and “Easter Bunny and Santa Claus: BFFs Pt. 1 and Pt. 2.” Although Mad Libs are recommended for ages 4 to 8, it is beneficial if the children are familiar with different parts of speech (nouns, adjectives) to help complete the blanks. Older kids might also find enjoyment in these games, especially when played in a larger family setting.
