Razer has partnered with UL and Panerai to launch an initiative focused on promoting environmental sustainability.
The partnership was unveiled at RazerCon, where the company emphasized its dedication to building a greener future. UL, a global safety certification company, will collaborate with Razer to support its environmental and economic objectives. This includes setting sustainability targets and establishing Product Category Rules for gaming products.
One of the challenges in the gaming industry is the absence of standardized methods for measuring eco-friendly products, leading to a lack of baseline standards for guidance.
Razer is working with UL to address this issue and hopes to initiate a broader industry effort to enhance sustainability and identify key indicators of the industry’s environmental impact.
Additionally, Razer and Panerai are collaborating on ocean preservation, with a dedicated segment at RazerCon focusing on this cause. The year-long campaign will involve both companies promoting ocean literacy and unveiling a limited edition sustainable timepiece next year.
Last year, Razer introduced Sneki Snek as its sustainability mascot and partnered with Conservation International to support tree conservation efforts.
Sneki Snek now has a cartoon series to educate fans about sustainability, illustrating Razer’s commitment to promoting environmental awareness.
Razer’s efforts align with a growing trend among companies striving to enhance the sustainability of their products. For example, audio brand Bang & Olufsen recently announced its pledge to develop more sustainable products, with its Beosound Level wireless speaker becoming the “first consumer speaker” to receive the Bronze sustainability accreditation from the “cradle to cradle” initiative earlier this year.
