Samsung is set to unveil the Galaxy S24 series on January 17. So far, there have been numerous rumors and leaks about what to expect from these new models. In this article, we will focus on the two smaller versions, the S24 and S24+.
LTPO displays, QHD+ for the S24+
The upcoming Galaxy S24 and S24+ will feature LTPO panels, allowing for variable refresh rates between 1Hz and 120Hz. Additionally, the S24+ is expected to upgrade its display to QHD+, while the S24 will maintain FHD+ resolution.
Both models will see an increase in screen size – the S24 will be 6.2” and the S24+ will be 6.7”, mostly due to reduced bezel sizes. Moreover, these panels will target a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, a significant improvement over the 1,750 nits of the previous generation.
(Slightly) bigger batteries, same charging
Despite maintaining similar dimensions, the S24 and S24+ will feature slightly larger batteries. The S24 will have a 4,000mAh capacity, while the S24+ will have a 4,900mAh capacity. Regarding charging, the S24+ will support up to 45W over USB-C, while the S24 will remain at 25W. Both models will offer 15W wireless charging.
The return of Exynos
It has been hinted that the Galaxy S24 and S24+ will incorporate an Exynos chip, except for the US and Canadian models, which will use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The Exynos 2400 chip is expected to deliver a 70% increase in CPU performance over the previous generation, with significant improvements in AI tasks and gaming capabilities.

The chip will feature an Xclipse 940 GPU based on AMD’s RDNA 3 technology, promising significant enhancements in graphics performance and AI capabilities. Additionally, there will be an increase in RAM capacity for the S24+, going up to 12GB, while the S24 will maintain 8GB of RAM.
Same cameras
The camera setup on the Galaxy S24 and S24+ is expected to remain the same as the previous generation, featuring a 50MP main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto module. The selfie camera will also maintain the 12MP sensor from the previous year.
Armor Aluminum 2.0
The Galaxy S24 and S24+ are said to feature Armor Aluminum 2.0 for the frame, as opposed to the titanium used in the S24 Ultra. Both models will maintain an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and will come in four standard colors, with the possibility of additional hues in the future.
Prices
Despite being powered by Exynos chips in Europe, the Galaxy S24 and S24+ are expected to be €50 cheaper than their predecessors. The prices in South Korea are anticipated to remain the same. Additionally, pre-order deals are expected to include a free storage upgrade.
