Our partnership with Reddit has been going on for several years, and today we are sharing several ways that we are strengthening our collaboration across the company. Reddit holds a unique position on the internet as a major platform with a wide range of genuine, human conversations and experiences. We are thrilled to work together to make it even simpler for people to gain from this valuable information.
Firstly, we are delighted to announce a new Cloud partnership that allows Reddit to incorporate new AI-powered features using Vertex AI. Reddit plans to use Vertex AI to improve search and other functions on their platform.
Over time, we have observed that more and more people are using Google to search for useful content on Reddit such as product recommendations and travel advice. Recognizing the usefulness of this information, we are developing ways to make it even easier to access across Google products. This collaboration will enable Reddit information to be displayed in a more content-forward manner, making our products more useful for our users and simplifying participation in Reddit communities and conversations.
To enable these and other experiences, Google now has access to Reddit’s Data API, which provides real-time, structured, and unique content from their large and dynamic platform. With the Reddit Data API, Google will now have efficient and structured access to fresh information, as well as enhanced signals that will help us better comprehend and present Reddit content. This expanded collaboration does not alter Google’s use of publicly available, crawlable content for indexing, training, or display in Google products.
