Subtle snow fell, powdering streets usually dry and clear. These were not the optimal conditions to test Reebok’s new FloatZig line debut shoe — the FloatZig 1 lacks weatherproofing and special rubber for challenging elements.
However, with the launch imminent, I decided to log some miles and see how they held up. Despite the unexpected mild winter in Minnesota, I took on 6 miles hoping to avoid ice and puddles. Soon after starting, I found myself not too concerned about what lay ahead — these shoes felt like mini trampolines on my feet!
Upon completing the run, I knew the FloatZig deserved a review. It may not have been the fastest or most technologically advanced shoe I’ve worn, but it surely was the most enjoyable.
In summary: In a crowded market where well-known brands like Reebok are often overshadowed by more specialized, technical brands, the FloatZig 1 found a place in my extensive shoe collection. Its delightful foot comfort and noticeable bounce make it a favorite for my feet. While it may not shatter your personal records, and I did spot a minor issue, it undeniably injects some extra spring into your step.

FloatZig 1 by Reebok: Comprehensive Evaluation
The shoe’s name reflects its core design elements. Reebok combined its award-winning Floatride Energy Foam with the Zig Tech midsole design. According to Reebok, Zig Tech propels energy forward in the shoe post heel strike, providing extra propulsion for the runner.
This, along with a plush foam offering a blend of cushioning and bounce, merges into a breathable mesh upper that’s soft in the toe area and firmer at the midfoot with reinforced panels for lateral support.
