A new addition to Weatherby’s collection is the SORIX, a semi-automatic shotgun available in 12 gauge and 20 gauge.
Weatherby, known primarily for its rifles, has broadened its range by launching the SORIX series. Manufactured in Italy and completed at Weatherby’s headquarters in Wyoming, the SORIX line offers options in 20-gauge and 12-gauge with three finish color choices. The 12-gauge variant provides the selection of a 3- or 3.5-inch chamber, all with a 2+1 capacity.
The Weatherby SORIX shotguns use the proven inertia recoil system from the company’s previous models, which is recognized for its simplicity, reliability, and cleaner operation compared to gas-operated semi-automatics. These shotguns are equipped with Weatherby’s SHIFT SYSTEM, allowing users to interchange the charging handle and safety to the left-hand side.
Notable features of the Weatherby SORIX that hunters will find beneficial include oversized controls and an enlarged trigger guard for easier operation in cold weather, an adjustable stock with shims, and a drilled and tapped receiver (8-40 holes) for an optic mount. The SORIX also comes equipped with LPA fiber optic sights for those who prefer not to use an optic. Additionally, these shotguns utilize the Crio Plus choke system and are shipped with five chokes, a choke wrench, and a choke carrying case.
All variants of the Weatherby SORIX are offered in Midnight Marsh, Slough, or Storm finishes, each featuring a Cerakote finish on the receiver, barrel, and top rib, and a hand-painted stock. The models are currently available with an MSRP of $1,499.
