Collapsible Camp Cookware For Gas And Induction Stoves: Sea To

Collapsible cookware is incredibly handy for outdoor activities like car camping, backpacking, and picnicking. It’s lightweight, compact, and robust, making storage a breeze. However, Sea to Summit has taken this concept to the next level with their new camp set, the Detour Collection.

The Detour Collection not only collapses and nests neatly but it’s also designed for use on heat sources like gas stoves and induction cooktops. This isn’t limited to just silicone mugs and bowls; Sea to Summit has expanded the idea to include functional pots, pans, and kettles that can be used on various heat sources. Sea to Summit boasts that this is the “first-ever collapsible camp kitchen equipment compatible with both gas stoves and induction cooktops.”

While there are other collapsible cookware options available for backpacking, such as the GSI Escape HS, the Detour Collection stands out as something unique and innovative.

The Detour Collection features handles that attach and detach and can be reversed to secure the lids for convenient storage. The cutlery and utensils all fit together, and all pieces are designed to withstand travel on bumpy roads without making noise. Additionally, the silicone and stainless steel construction of the pots, kettle, and bowls allow for cooking on gas stoves or induction cooktops while still being collapsible.

This camp kitchen kit from Sea to Summit is sleek and practical. I had the opportunity to test a sample before Sea to Summit’s official launch today to provide some insights and a first look at this new collection.

In summary: The Sea to Summit Detour Collection offers durable camping cookware, dishware, and utensils that are packable. Unlike typical collapsible camp cookware, these products featuring stainless steel bases are compatible with both gas stoves and induction cooktops. They are ideal for boating, RVs, car camping, and may even be beneficial for those living in tiny homes or apartments. It’s high-quality camp cookware and represents a new innovation from Sea to Summit.

The full Detour Collection comprises 17 products, with 6 available in bundled kits. It includes cutlery, utensils, a kettle, paring knife, kitchen knife, chopsticks, medium and large collapsible bowls, stainless steel plate, collapsible mug, pouring pot (1.8L), cooking pots (3L and 5L), and a 10-inch stainless steel pan.

These items would be essential additions to a boat or RV kitchenette and could even find use in a regular home kitchen. For camp cooking, this collection offers a touch of luxury, and opening your silicone pot at the campsite can turn some heads.

The pouring pot, and the 3L and 5L pots are standout pieces from the Detour Collection. I’ve used them to cook pasta and prepare coffee, but they are versatile enough for making soups or chili as well.

Cleaning these collapsible pots is as straightforward as any other camp cookware, and the satisfaction of the silicone “thunk” sound they make when deployed is a bonus.

The 3L and 5L pots feature Sea to Summit’s ClickSafe technology, allowing the handles to be detached with a button press for easy handling or storage with the lid sealed. The pouring pot also comes with a grab handle that incorporates the same feature for convenient storage.

Note: Exercise caution when pots contain hot liquids to avoid accidents if lids are sealed with excessive force.

Kettle

One product that caught my eye, although I didn’t get to try it, is the Detour Kettle. During a camping trip near Breckenridge, Colo., last summer, I saw the novelty of snapping open a spouted kettle to start boiling water, making it a cool and practical item.

Plates, Bowls, Mugs

Regarding the plates, they are high-quality stainless steel that folds down to half its size, offering a straightforward design.
