Testing fixed-blade knives can be more challenging than folders, as they are less discreet for everyday carry. Fixed blades are often associated with outdoor activities and can draw unwanted attention in public settings. Despite this, I spent approximately 9 months testing the SOG Tellus FX. This 9-inch knife, featuring blaze orange handle scales and a multi-mount sheath, has served me well in various tasks, from camping to chores by the river.
Summary: The SOG Tellus FX is a sturdy belt knife that handles tough tasks admirably without breaking the bank. It has become an essential tool in both my home and outdoor adventures.

SOG Tellus FX Knife Review

Design and Features
The SOG Tellus is a budget-friendly, bushcraft-style knife crafted from cryo-treated 440C steel. Cryogenic processing enhances the steel’s properties like corrosion resistance and edge retention. Though not rust-proof, the cryogenic treatment significantly reduces the chances of rust if the knife is kept clean and dry.
The Tellus FX features an ergonomically designed handle with textured GRN scales, allowing for comfortable and secure grip in various tasks.

Impressive Sheath
The knife’s sheath features SOG’s Universal Mounting System (UMS), offering versatile carry options. The UMS allows for customizable belt or pack strap attachment in various orientations, enhancing its utility and convenience.
The UMS design is user-friendly, providing adjustability and adaptability to suit different carrying preferences.
