Fans of eFootball unfortunately received disappointing news, with a critical update that was scheduled for mid-November now postponed until the spring of 2022.
Konami made the decision to refund purchasers of the eFootball 2022 Premium Player Pack, which contains items that rely on the upcoming major update. The delay was confirmed in a recent press release received by Trusted Reviews.
The originally planned v1.0.0 update, set for release on November 11th this year, has been pushed back as Konami requires more time to meet the expectations of the fans in terms of quality.
As a result of the delay, pre-orders for the 2022 Premium Player Pack have been cancelled. Players who pre-ordered on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox One, or Windows will need to redownload eFootball 2022 to continue playing. Steam users will not be affected.
There should be no impact on existing gameplay data as long as the same account is used, including earned GPs, online match results, and completed event history.
However, a smaller v0.9.1 update has been released today to address bugs on all platforms. The fixes include issues such as floating suits in pre-match cutscenes, disappearing objects during goal scenes, and players vanishing during matches.
Furthermore, another delay was announced, with eFootball 2022 for mobile devices pushed from this autumn to the spring of next year due to the need for additional development time.
This also means a delay in the announcement of new players, specifically for eFootball PES 2021, not for eFootball 2022.
Konami has reassured players that eFootball Points, the primary currency in the game, which were originally set to expire before the update to eFootball 2022, will now be made usable after the update releases next year.
