ENVE initially ventured into crafting custom road bike frames tailored to individual riders. Eventually, the brand expanded into producing complete bikes like the aggressive and fast-paced Melee road race machine and the MOG gravel bike designed for tougher terrains.
With a successful presence in the World Tour, the Melee has become a renowned race bike, focusing on speed and agility, while the MOG offers better stability on rough and bumpy roads.
ENVE’s latest addition, the Fray, aims to bridge the gap between these two bikes, emphasizing road riding over proper gravel biking.

During a test ride in Paso Robles, Calif., I experienced the Fray’s versatility on 75- and 50-mile rides over two consecutive days. The Fray displayed its capability as a high-speed machine that can handle various terrains with ease.
In summary: The ENVE Fray is a high-performance bike suitable for extended rides on roads, light gravel paths, or mixed surfaces. It strikes a balance between the performance-focused Melee and the gravel-oriented MOG, offering both speed and comfort to riders valuing speed but appreciating a more relaxed geometry.

Overview of ENVE Fray

Describing the Fray can be somewhat complex. ENVE itself is vague, describing it as an “All Road” or endurance bike tailored for riders seeking speed, adaptability, and top performance with a touch of World Tour influence.
ENVE suggests that the Fray is ideal for riders looking to spend extended periods riding and achieve significant cycling milestones without the need for an extremely aggressive racing geometry.
