In this era of advanced search capabilities and AI-driven technologies, one might assume that finding the perfect knife shouldn’t be a challenge. However, the Mini Keen proves otherwise.
Having been immersed in the world of knives for over a decade, I pride myself on knowing various knife lineups by heart. Yet, the existence of the Mini Keen eluded me until recently. It’s puzzling how its larger counterpart, the Keen, garnered rave reviews from many of my colleagues. The reason the Mini Keen remained overlooked can be summed up in one word – marketing.
When Massdrop first made waves, it introduced a plethora of impressive folders like the Gent, the Keen, and a selection of Kirby Lambert designs. It was a revelation. However, as Massdrop evolved into Drop, the influx of new and appealing knives slowed down before disappearing altogether. Subsequently, knives reemerged under a new platform called Kaviso without much ado. The Mini Keen framelock, available in a budget-friendly version with a liner lock and 14C28N, emerged as a stellar knife.
To put it succinctly: If you desire an excellent everyday carry (EDC) knife without delving too deep, the Mini Keen framelock is an ideal choice. This compact, straightforward, and finely crafted knife offers great utility at a reasonable price point.

Kaviso Mini Keen Review

Overview
The Mini Keen, a titanium framelock flipper, features an S35VN spearpoint blade with a high-polish belt satin finish. The contoured titanium handles are impeccably finished.

The sculpted titanium deep-carry clip ensures the knife sits comfortably in the pocket. Deployment is effortless with the simple and grippy flipper tab. The knife is approximately 30% smaller than the Ray Laconico-designed Keen.
Manufactured by QSP for Kaviso based on user feedback, the knife boasts a straightforward and unassuming appearance, making it a perfect fit for the coin pocket of jeans.
