Light, Compact, Right Sized Battery: Jackery Explorer 300 Review

If you’re looking for a portable battery to power your devices off-grid (or for various other purposes), you might find the selection overwhelming. The market offers options ranging from bulky units weighing over 100 pounds, capable of running a camper for a week, to tiny phone chargers suitable only for basic charging needs.

The Jackery Explorer 300 ranks high among the best portable battery units for many users. With a practical 300W capacity, compact design, and a mere 7.1-pound weight, the Jackery Explorer 300 offers an ideal size for a wide range of applications.

In summary: The Jackery Explorer 300 ($280) is a versatile, midsize battery perfect for powering small devices like computers, phones, and cameras. It’s lightweight, compact, and performs excellently. However, consumers might want to consider upgrading to the Plus version for extended lifespan and faster charging capabilities with just a $20 increase in price.

Review of the Jackery Explorer 300

I have used the Jackery Explorer 300 for over a year now. During this time, it has mainly powered my computer. It is my go-to battery when I plan to work off-grid for a day or enjoy some sun at the park.

While I have other chargers for larger applications, like powering my portable refrigerator or using them at my remote elk camp for extended periods, the compact Jackery is much more convenient to carry around in my day-to-day activities. I rarely require the extensive power supply that larger, heavier, and more expensive batteries offer.

For many individuals, the Jackery Explorer 300 will be just the right choice.

The Explorer 300 features two 100V, 300W pure sine-wave outlets, ideal for charging laptops and other medium-sized devices. While efficient for devices like hand drills with power surges up to 500W, they may not handle larger tools such as skill saws or electric heaters, triggering the device’s surge protector.
