Amazon brings generative AI to Fire TV with new devices

At its annual device event, Amazon updated its Fire TV lineup with new devices like the Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max, as well as a new Fire TV-branded soundbar, following rival Roku’s lead in other home entertainment announced the development of product. But as well as hardware news, the company also introduced a generation AI update for its Fire TV voice search. This is expected to provide a more conversational way to interact with Alexa and discover new content.

The company says Fire TV users can now ask Alexa more nuanced and open-ended questions about TV shows and movies thanks to a new generative AI experience that allows them to speak in a more natural, conversational way. . Amazon debuted an AI-powered generative Alexa update at an event this morning.

Users can ask Alexa to search for specific actors, directors, scenes, genres, or rights, such as “action movies with car chases,” “indoor comedies for rainy days,” or “free animated movies to watch.” You can also ask them to search for your content. myself. ” Or you can tell Alexa what you’re in the mood for and choose from a variety of recommendations tailored to your Fire TV profile.

Generative AI-powered voice search is the flagship feature coming to the new Fire TV experience, but the device also includes several other updates. For example, the new “Continue Watching” row will now show titles from non-Amazon services like Disney+, Freevee, Hulu, MAX, MGM+, Peacock, STARZ, Tubi, and more. Amazon says more features will be added in the future.

Both this issue and improved voice search are expected to roll out in the US later this year.

The company is also updating its Fire TV product line with three new devices and a new Fire TV bundle.

The new Fire TV Stick 4K ($49.99) adds support for Wi-Fi 6 and has an updated 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, which Amazon says is 30% more powerful than the previous generation. . As the name suggests, the Stick supports 4K Ultra HD image quality. It also supports Dolby Atmos audio with support for Dolby Vision, HDR, HLG, and HDR10+. Alexa Home Theater also lets you connect other Echo devices wirelessly to play audio through multiple speakers.

Upgraded Fire TV Stick Max 4K ($59.99) includes Wi-Fi 6E support and 16 GB of storage, double the previous generation, allowing customers to store more apps and games on their device can. The device also features an upgraded 2.0 GHz quad-core processor, making it the fastest Stick in the Fire TV lineup. Plus, it supports 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, HDR, HDR10+, and immersive Dolby Atmos audio.

This top-of-the-line streaming stick also includes the Fire TV Ambient Experience, which was previously only available on Fire TV Omni QLED Series TVs.
