The second preview of Android 15 for developers has been released, and tech enthusiasts are diligently analyzing the code for fresh features.
A notable addition is a setting that allows users to override the default frame rate restriction for games, bypassing the 60Hz limit and enabling them to reach their maximum performance potential.
Typically, Android restricts games to a 60fps frame rate, requiring developers to individually enable higher frame rates for each device. However, with this new universal toggle, users will have the ability to unlock the potential for achieving greater frame rates across all compatible devices.
This setting can be located within the Developer options, which can be accessed by tapping multiple times on the Build number in your phone’s software to unlock it.
While primarily designed for developers to experiment and evaluate their games at higher frame rates, power users will also have the opportunity to take advantage of this feature, as is common with many settings within the Developer options menu.
