After spending a long day in front of screens, be it a computer for work or winding down with my phone, my eyes are in need of some relief. I also frequently suffer from headaches and migraines, and while I’m not certain that my screen time is the sole cause, I know it doesn’t help.
It’s no surprise that products like eye massagers, which strap onto your face and gently massage, vibrate, and warm the area around your eyes, are appealing for combating these modern life symptoms.
The hashtag #eyemassagers has over 95 million views on TikTok at the time of writing.
There are numerous eye massagers available, but Therabody, the brand behind two of our massage-gun picks, produces one of the more popular options. Therabody’s $200 SmartGoggles claim to ease eye strain, alleviate headaches, and “promote restful sleep.” I’ve tried nearly every method imaginable to ward off migraines, so I was skeptical yet hopeful.
To test their effectiveness, I wore the goggles for 15-minute sessions during the day and before bed, four to five times per week for a couple of weeks, to see if they truly helped reduce eye strain or prevent headaches from escalating too far.
