The approach to bringing this technology to the world is bold and responsible. To address issues like unsafe content or bias, safety features have been integrated in the products in line with the AI Principles. Before the launch of Gemini Advanced, extensive trust and safety checks were conducted, including external red-teaming. Further refinement of the underlying model was carried out using fine-tuning and reinforcement learning, based on human feedback. Detailed information can be found in the updated Gemini Technical Report.
Easily use Gemini on your phone
A new mobile experience for Gemini and Gemini Advanced is being rolled out today with a new app on Android and in the Google app on iOS.
With Gemini on your phone, you can type, talk, or add an image for various types of assistance while on the go: Snap a photo of your flat tire and ask for guidance, create a custom image for your dinner party invitation, or request help crafting a difficult text message. This marks an important step in creating a true AI assistant that is conversational, multimodal, and helpful.
Android
Gemini on Android is a new type of assistant that utilizes generative AI to collaborate with users and aid in completing tasks.
After downloading the Gemini app or opting in through Google Assistant, users can access it from the app or anywhere else Google Assistant is normally activated — by pressing the power button or swiping the corner on select phones, or by saying “Hey Google.” This will enable a new overlay experience that provides easy access to Gemini, as well as contextual assistance right on the screen — enabling users to, for example, generate a caption for a picture they’ve just taken or ask questions about an article they’re reading. Many Google Assistant voice features will be accessible through the Gemini app, including setting timers, making calls, and controlling smart home devices. Efforts are underway to support more features in the future.
