Wirecutter also bought an armless, wide-seated criss-cross chair, which I tried out alongside the Pipersong chair. Coming in at under $100, the criss-cross chair is much cheaper than the Pipersong chair. The one I tested didn’t have wheels, which I found beneficial as it stayed put once I positioned it. While models with casters are available or can be added later if necessary, I still wouldn’t suggest using this chair as your sole desk chair due to its relatively low back support. However, it could serve as one of multiple seating options, allowing you to adjust and adapt based on the task at hand. I particularly enjoyed using this chair during meetings where being present and attentive was important, but active participation wasn’t required.
