The Nothing Phone (2a) was recently introduced as the company’s first foray into the mid-range smartphone market. Recognized for its stylish and value-for-money products, Nothing continues this trend with the (2a).
Priced at €330, this mid-range device boasts a generous 6.7” 120Hz AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, protected by Gorilla Glass 5 and IP54 dust and water resistance. It features a 50+50MP dual rear camera setup and a 32MP front camera setup, similar to its higher-end counterpart, the Phone (2).
Under the hood, the Phone (2a) houses a larger 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging (excluding wireless charging). Its Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset outperforms the 778G chipset found in the original Phone (1), although it falls short of the chipset in the Phone (2). Additionally, spending an extra €50 for an additional 4GB of RAM and doubled storage is a worthwhile upgrade. Customers can also receive a complimentary pair of CMF Buds Pro (valued at €50) with their purchase.
Currently, the 12/256GB variant of the Nothing Phone (2) is priced at €580, while the 512GB model costs €680, representing a premium over the (2a) model. This premium offers advantages such as the faster Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, enabling 4K @ 60fps video recording compared to the Dimensity chipset’s 4K @ 30fps limit. The Phone (2) boasts an LTPO panel on its 6.7” display (maintaining FHD+ resolution) and 15W wireless charging.
The Samsung Galaxy A15 5G, priced just under €200 (€35 lower than its MSRP), has joined the market as an affordable alternative to its predecessor, the Galaxy A25. Powered by the Dimensity 6100+ chipset, this device offers expandable storage and ships with Android 14. It guarantees 3 OS updates and 4 years of security patches.
Equipped with a 6.5” FHD+ AMOLED display operating at 90Hz, the A15 5G features a 5MP ultra-wide camera (reduced from 8MP), alongside the unchanged 50MP main camera and 13MP selfie cam. The 5,000mAh battery supports 25W wired charging.
The Realme 11 Pro has received a price reduction following the official release of the Realme 12 Pro, placing it at a slightly higher price point than the Galaxy A15 5G. Boasting a 6.7” OLED display with a 120Hz 10-bit panel and a 100MP main camera with OIS (lacking an ultra-wide option), the Realme 11 Pro offers 67W fast charging on its 5,000mAh battery, albeit without a microSD slot or a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The Realme 12 Pro+ comes in a 12/512GB configuration, featuring the same Dimensity 7050 chipset and 6.7” 120Hz OLED display as the standard Pro model. It upgrades to a 200MP main camera with OIS, an 8MP ultra-wide camera, a 32MP selfie camera, and 100W charging for its 5,000mAh battery.
In the sub-€200 price category, the Moto G54 offers an alternative with a 6.5” 120Hz IPS LCD screen (FHD+ resolution) compared to the Galaxy A15 5G’s 6.5” 90Hz OLED display. Despite featuring a 50MP camera with OIS and a 5,000mAh battery, the Moto G54 supports slower 15W charging and lacks an ultra-wide camera.
