Enhancing an Already Great Product
Fosi paid attention to customer feedback and made significant improvements to the ZA3. The default copper dial and the Taper A pot have been retained, ensuring that the product stays at the same high level of quality. Moreover, the ZA3 now remembers the last used volume, preventing potential speaker damage if the volume knob is adjusted before turning it off. Additionally, the power function has been integrated into the knob, requiring a two-second press to power on or off instead of a separate switch.
While the technical specifications resemble those of the Fosi V3, the ZA3 has removed the treble and bass controls in favor of a more natural sound. The SINAD, SNR, and THD metrics have remained mostly unchanged, reflecting the impressive performance of the ZA3, especially considering its relatively affordable price of just over $100.
The ZA3’s increased power has led to an upgraded cooling system, with added vents on the side and a heatspreader beneath the Texas Instruments TPA3255 amp chip. By utilizing a TR8 bit and pliers, users can access the chip and Op-Amps. With the help of tweezers and proper alignment, users can replace the stock Op-Amp with a new one for a different or improved sound, or to fix a malfunctioning channel.
