Introduction
Before Loupedeck contacted me, I had not heard of the company, likely because I am not deeply involved in the Twitch/Game Streaming world. While I have dabbled in basic streaming in the past, I never fully embraced the streaming setup, including a stream deck.
The opportunity to review one of Loupedeck’s units intrigued me, as I had seen similar stream decks used by professionals beyond the gaming realm. Loupedeck, based in Finland, has been competing with its primary rival, Elgato.
Past reviews have often praised Loupedeck parts for their hardware design and build quality. However, criticism has arisen regarding the software side, with complaints about clunky implementation, lack of default profiles for popular applications, and slow software.
However, Loupedeck has made significant improvements over the years. Spoiler alert: Loupedeck has dramatically improved their software. As someone who had not used a stream deck before, I was able to set it up in various applications in under an hour.
The second major change is that Logitech acquired Loupedeck in the summer of 2023. This move makes sense given Logitech’s interest in the growing market for streaming activities, as many people now have the necessary hardware and internet connection speeds.
Loupedeck seems to be in good hands with Logitech, which has a global reach and a larger marketing budget. This acquisition also brings extensive software engineering capabilities to help the product grow and become more versatile. The goal may be to expand its appeal beyond just streamers through broader applications and support.
