Despite Meizu’s plans to shift focus to AI and possibly exit the smartphone industry, the company, owned by Geely, is set to release one final model before its departure. The new Meizu 21 Pro offers upgraded features including a better screen, a telephoto camera, and a larger battery with wireless charging.
Starting off with the display, the Meizu 21 Pro boasts a 6.79″ AMOLED LTPO panel with a resolution of 1,368 x 3,192px (21:9) and a peak brightness of 1,250 nits. This display supports a variable refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, a notable upgrade from the vanilla 21’s 6.55″ FHD+ 19.5:9 display. The device retains the same 32MP front camera.
6.79” LTPO display • Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
Under the hood, the Meizu 21 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM as a base configuration (up from 8GB) and a variant with 16GB of RAM. Storage options include 256GB, 512GB, and now 1TB capacities.
The camera setup on the back has been revised, with the 200MP sensor of its predecessor being replaced by a 50MP main camera. In addition, a 10MP telephoto camera with a 3x zoom capability has been added to compensate for the loss in megapixels. The ultra-wide camera remains at 13MP with a 122° field of view. The device also features a Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensor for improved autofocus, 8K video recording capability on the main camera, and both Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS).
50+13+10MP camera • 5,050mAh battery with 80W/50W charging
The battery capacity has been increased to 5,050mAh, now supporting 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, an enhancement over the previous model.
The Meizu 21 Pro is currently available for pre-order in China through the company’s online store, with open sales starting on March 2. The base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is priced at CNY 5,000 ($700/€640/₹57,500). The 16GB/512GB model costs an additional CNY 400, while the top-tier 16GB/1TB variant is priced at CNY 5,900.
Meizu 21 Pro colorways: Black • White • Blue • Green (leatherette)
The phone is offered in four color options, with three featuring a glass back (Black, White, Blue) and one sporting a leatherette back (Green). Notably, the Pro model comes with an IP68 rating, while the standard variant only has an IP54 rating for dust and water resistance.
