Stylish high-top sneakers with a retro vibe.
In 1972, Nike launched the Blazer as a basketball shoe, inspired by the Portland Trail Blazers. Originally designed for basketball and then embraced by skateboarders, the Blazer has now found its way into everyday fashion for those not particularly interested in sports (like myself).
Despite considering other options like basic Adidas Stan Smiths or versatile Vans, I find Nike’s Air Force 1 shoes too bulky. The Blazers, on the other hand, offer a unique and versatile alternative. They effortlessly complement various outfits and styles, from jeans and casual tops to slip dresses. Their vintage aesthetic, rooted in sports heritage, adds a distinctive touch to any look.
For those new to the Blazer trend, I recommend opting for the Mid silhouette over the Low. The Mid exudes a classic ’70s charm, while the Low resembles a standard fashion sneaker akin to the iconic Stan Smiths or Common Projects. Comfort is not compromised with the Blazers; although they may not feature Nike Air technology (unless you choose the SB Zoom variant), the solid rubber sole provides excellent support and traction.
However, the allure of the Blazers extends beyond comfort and functionality. Their aesthetic appeal is undeniable and often draws compliments. Whether from sneaker enthusiasts, artistic individuals appreciating their mainstream yet distinctive look, or even strangers on the street admiring their style, the Blazers never fail to make a statement.
