This week, Chrome is introducing new security and performance features, just in time for last-minute gift browsing.
Enhanced Safety Check
The Safety Check for Chrome on desktop will now automatically run in the background. It will proactively alert you if passwords saved in Chrome have been compromised, if any of your extensions are potentially harmful, if you’re not using the latest version of Chrome, or if site permissions need your attention. These alerts will appear in the three-dot menu in Chrome so that you can take action.
Furthermore, Safety Check is being extended to revoke sites’ permissions, such as access to your location or microphone, if you haven’t visited them in a long time. It will also flag if you’re receiving a lot of notifications from sites with which you don’t engage much, making it easy to disable them.
