Have you been wondering about Ethan Winters lately? Well, here’s some good news: Resident Evil Village could be getting some free DLC.
Capcom has subtly hinted at the possibility of Resident Evil Village, the latest installment in the franchise, receiving free downloadable content in the future.
The tease came in the company’s annual integrated report, which reflects on the studio’s year and provides hints about future developments.
Yoichi Egawa, the director and executive officer of Capcom, briefly mentioned the studio’s latest development strategy, with allusions to a special role for Resident Evil.
Egawa discussed the company’s consideration of providing additional free DLC content, citing titles such as Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise.
While it’s uncertain when the DLC content will be released or in what form, Capcom confirmed during an E3 panel earlier this year that they were working on additional DLC in response to popular demand. However, no further details have been disclosed since then.
Although DLC for Resident Evil Village is already available, such as the Trauma Pack DLC that accompanied the Complete, Deluxe, and Collector’s editions, it mainly includes cosmetic changes and not substantial extra content.
There is speculation about whether the new free DLC will be cosmetic or content-based. Given that the company has stated that this DLC is in response to popular demand, fans would be disappointed if it doesn’t include new levels or gameplay to try out.
Resident Evil Village picks up a few years after Resident Evil Biohazard; the player once again takes on the role of Ethan Winters, on a mission to locate his daughter Rosemary and uncover the mystery behind his wife Mia’s disappearance, while confronting monsters and supernatural elements.
