When investing in a high-quality hunting scope, it’s important to consider versatility. Maven’s RS1.2 rifle scope offers versatility across different hunting scenarios.

While not lightweight, this scope is suitable for mountain hunters using a lightweight hunting rifle. It provides a range of power for close shots in smaller areas and long-range shots in open spaces. Additionally, the clarity in low-light conditions makes it effective for twilight hunting.

Its best features cater to hunters who require zero-stop functionality and need to make long-range adjustments for precise shots. Its wide range of applications, from shooting 40 yards in dark timber to 300 yards across open areas, makes it an impressive choice for various hunting experiences.

In summary: Maven’s RS1.2 offers optical quality and long-range hunting capabilities typically found in higher-priced scopes.

Maven RS1.2 2.5-15x44mm Rifle Scope Review

Testing the Maven RS1.2

This fall, I had the privilege of testing the Maven RS1.2 2.5-15×44 on a Bergara B-14 Ridge 6.5 Creedmoor rifle. Along with range testing, I used this scope during my state’s general gun season and successfully hunted a buck.

During my range tests, I evaluated the Maven RS1.2 by making adjustments up, down, and back to zero to test the reticle’s tracking. The scope features an FFP (first focal plane) reticle in MOA-2 and SHR-MIL options with an illuminated reticle offering 10 brightness settings.

The RS1.2’s locking elevation turret is tactile and smooth, offering 100 MOA of travel with 0.25 MOA per click, while the capped windage turret turns similarly with 70 MOA of travel. Setting the zero stop is straightforward and requires a single hex wrench to do so.

During range testing, I rotated between distances of 100 and 300 yards, both making adjustments to test the scope’s tracking and using the hash marks for quick holdovers. The magnification range (2.5-15x) covers everything from close shots to long distances, and the clicks are crisp and smooth.

Maven’s RS scopes offer excellent optical quality, delivering a crisp, detailed sight picture that remains sharp and in focus, even at maximum magnification ranges. It provides great light-gathering capabilities and excels in lowlight conditions.

Strengths of the Maven RS1.2

The zero stop functionality, tactile controls, and optical quality make this scope suitable for western hunters and long-distance shooters. Its clear sight picture and brightness in lowlight conditions rival those in scopes that are priced much higher.
