In-Depth Review of the 2024 Imperial Outdoors XploreRV X195
The Imperial Outdoors XploreRV X195 is a product of Imperial Outdoors, a company owned by Nelson Industries based in Wisconsin. With a strong background in custom ice-fishing houses, the company has seamlessly transitioned its expertise into crafting rugged camp trailers like the XploreRV X195 and its smaller counterpart, the XploreRV X145.

Extreme Temperature Resistant XploreRV X195
The X195 trailer is designed with a one-piece composite roof, sides, and floor, each nearly 3 inches thick and filled with block foam to withstand extreme temperatures ranging from 120 to -40 degrees Fahrenheit. Featuring an R18.75 value for walls and roof, as well as an R15 rating for the floor, this camper offers outstanding insulation and heating capability, making it one of the best-insulated camp trailers in its class.
“We took our experience from building high-end fish houses to design this camper. The three-inch block-insulated walls help in heat retention during winter and cooling in the summer,” says Steve Geary, Marketing Manager for Imperial Outdoors/Nelson Industries. “During our winter trips with subfreezing temperatures, we were impressed by how well the design maintained a comfortable interior temperature even when it stayed below 20 degrees outside.”
The camper is equipped with a 14,300-BTU Truma Combi Eco Plus unit, functioning as both a furnace and a tankless water heater. It efficiently kept the interior warm at 72 degrees and provided instant hot water for showers, even during lower outdoor temperatures.
Importance of Windows
The camper’s construction also includes a one-piece composite floor and roof, paired with lightweight acrylic thermopane windows featuring nitrogen gas and built-in shades. These windows play a vital role in insulating the interior against extreme weather conditions by minimizing heat and cold transfer.
The window shades on the living area windows act as additional insulation, while the window screens allow fresh air circulation without letting insects in. Moreover, the window locks can be adjusted to control ventilation, reducing the need for extensive use of heating or cooling systems.
Spacious Interior and Thoughtful Design
The X195 offers a roomy and comfortable living space for a couple or a small family compared to its single-axle counterpart. With an interior length of over 19 feet, a width of 6.5 feet, and a ceiling height of 6 feet, 3 inches, the camper boasts composite construction and high-quality fittings like latches, hinges, and support struts for the cabinets.
