During the year 2023, Google identified 97 zero-day vulnerabilities being exploited in-the-wild. This number represents a more than 50 percent increase compared to the previous year, yet it falls short of the record set in 2021 with 106 exploits. Google has now released its fifth annual review of zero-days exploited in-the-wild, marking the first collaboration between Google’s Threat Analysis Group (TAG) and Mandiant for this report.
The report titled “We’re All in this Together: A Year in Review of Zero-Days Exploited In-the-Wild in 2023,” was published today. It offers a comprehensive analysis of the zero-day landscape along with recommendations for stakeholders. TAG and Mandiant pooled their expertise to scrutinize zero-days actively exploited across end-user platforms, products (such as mobile devices, operating systems, browsers, and applications), and enterprise-focused technologies like security software and appliances.
The aim of this collaboration is not only to provide a broader evaluation but also to offer clear guidance to those dedicated to safeguarding the digital realm.
