Recently, a prototype of the Samsung Galaxy A55 made its way onto Geekbench, confirming the intriguing GPU choice of Exynos 1480 SoC and AMD RDNA2-based Xclipse 530 GPU. This signals a departure from the Mali GPU used in previous A-series models.
The Xclipse 530 GPU has the potential to support raytracing in games, presenting a significant GPU upgrade for the A55 compared to its predecessors. However, the CPU performance improvements over the Exynos 1380 are not substantial, with single-core and multi-core scores of 1,127 and 2,090 respectively as compared to A54’s 1,108 and 2,797.
The prototype featured 8GB of RAM, similar to the A54, and rumors suggest that the Galaxy A55 will come with a 6.5-inch FHD+ 120 Hz OLED display, a 50 MP main camera, and support for 25W wired charging, omitting the charger from the box.
