In 2021, the establishment of Tech Equity Collective aimed to hasten Black innovation and representation in the tech industry. To extend its impact, the collective has collaborated with other tech firms and community groups to generate new career paths for emerging Black tech innovators and technologists. Recognizing that investment fuels innovation, TEC initiated the Tech Equity Collective Impact Fund last year to provide backing for organizations actively progressing Black technical talent.
The second cycle of the TEC Impact Fund is now open for applications, with a call for organizations dedicated to establishing equitable access in the tech sector to apply.
The TEC Impact Fund, which started with an initial $1 million, will offer support to 20 grantees, along with an array of industry resources and expertise from the Tech Equity Collective.
The benefits of being an Impact Fund grantee include:
- Non-dilutive financial support: $50,000 in non-dilutive funding to bolster initiatives and enhance the skills of aspiring and emerging Black technical talent.
- Enhanced strategy and operations: Monthly virtual seminars to expedite organizational growth, featuring topics such as leadership and fundraising, led by industry thought leaders and practitioners.
- A valuable community: Exclusive access to Tech Equity Collective’s vibrant community of industry experts, advisors, and peer organizations dedicated to uplifting Black talent in tech. Grantees will collaborate, share resources, and tap into collective intelligence to maximize their impact.
Last year’s recipients, including ColorStack and Diversiboard, attest to the transformative impact of the TEC Impact Fund on the communities they serve, citing expanded efforts, empowered leadership, and subsequent fundraising. One recipient, Morgan Latimer Consulting CEO Anthony Mays, remarked, “Thanks to the TEC Impact Fund grant, we were able to launch our first ever course on technical interviewing.”
