This report provides details of coordinated influence operations that were shut down on our platforms in the first quarter of 2024. The information was last updated on March 6, 2024.
January
- Four domains were prohibited from appearing on Google News and Discover due to our investigation into coordinated influence operations associated with Italy. The campaign posted content in English, Czech, and Persian in support of the Russian government and Russia’s actions in Ukraine.
- One Ads account was terminated and two domains were blocked from Google News and Discover as part of our investigation into coordinated influence operations related to Israel. The campaign shared content in Arabic, Hebrew, English, Spanish, French, German, and Farsi, making claims about future attacks on Europe and the West by Hamas.
- Two Ads accounts, two Blogger blogs, and one Play developer were terminated, and 42 domains were banned from Google News and Discover as part of our investigation into coordinated influence operations linked to Turkey. The campaign shared Arabic content on topics such as the Israel-Gaza conflict, Yemen’s government, and Arab world news and politics.
- One Ads account was terminated, and three domains were blocked from Google News and Discover in connection with coordinated influence operations tied to Kuwait. The campaign shared Arabic content supportive of Kuwait’s government and covered news and politics in the Arab world.
- A total of 134 YouTube channels were shut down in our investigation into coordinated influence operations involving Indonesia. The campaigns posted Bahasa content in support of the ruling party in Indonesia.
- As part of our continued investigation into coordinated influence operations associated with the People’s Republic of China (PRC), 5,306 YouTube channels were terminated. The network posted content in Chinese and English focusing on China and U.S. foreign affairs, aligning with our previous findings.
