A review of the new .360 Buckhammer chambering and the Henry Model X lever-action rifle.
Lever-action rifles have been a popular American choice for the past century and a half. While the manufacturing process has evolved over the years, modern advancements have resulted in a much more consistent product. Alongside traditional names like Winchester, Marlin, and Savage, companies such as Henry have adopted the lever gun.

In addition to classic late-19th and early 20th century rifle designs, many cartridges from that era remain popular today. Some states in the Midwestern US require a straight-walled cartridge for big game hunting to keep velocities on the lower side. This has led to the development of new designs like the .360 Buckhammer.
A Chip Off The Ol’ Block?
The .360 Buckhammer is based on the .30-30 Winchester case but with straightened out case walls. It has the same .506-inch rim diameter as the .30-30 Winchester but with a shorter case length of 1.80 inches. It is offered in both 180- and 200-grain loads and features the time-tested Core-Lokt round-nose bullet.
