Camping in late seasons can be challenging. Previously, I tended to avoid it due to the heavy equipment required. Weather-resistant tents are usually bulky and tedious to set up. After a tiring day in the cold, the last thing I want is a complex tent setup.
But then came the KUIU Storm Star 2: a tent that seemed to offer the best of both worlds. Initially skeptical, I tested it out of my comfort zone. Did this tent live up to its promises?
In short: Yes, it exceeded my expectations. This tent delivered on all fronts, regardless of the conditions. I was so impressed that I had to share it with the GearJunkie team for further testing, and I’m planning to get my own. Coming from someone with a dozen tents in storage, that speaks volumes.

Putting the KUIU Storm Star 2 to the Test
In a peculiar winter in Montana, snow was scarce. Despite that, I faced cold snaps and some snowflakes. Setting up the Storm Star 2 in windy conditions and drifting snow proved its mettle. After cozy nights in it, I was pleasantly surprised by its comfort, surpassing the performance of my minimalist tents.
Key Features of the KUIU Storm Star 2
The standout feature is the easy setup in any weather without compromising the interior. With the rainfly and tent attached and external pole placement, the Storm Star 2 can be set up in any conditions.
The tent interior stays dry during setup, even if done hastily in the rain. The double-entrance feature is convenient for two occupants, and the vestibule serves as efficient storage, allowing easy entry and exit without disturbing gear.
