Our recommendation
The popular Super Benriner mandoline boasts replaceable razor-sharp blades and an improved hand guard for safe use.
Benriner introduced the enhanced Super Benriner model (No. 95) in 2018, addressing previous concerns while retaining the best features. The hand guard has been revamped for a more secure grip on vegetables, and the versatile double-bevel blade effortlessly handles everything from soft tomatoes to tough lemons and tiny radishes to hard sweet potatoes. The overall design is robust without being bulky.
Runner-up
For various cutting options like julienne and dice cuts, the Börner VPower is a solid choice.
The Swissmar Börner VPower is a reliable option featuring a sharp V-shaped blade for precise cuts and a durable handheld design. While it’s larger, bulkier, and pricier than the Benriner and KitchenAid slicers, the Swissmar performed exceptionally well in our tests on tomatoes, onions, radishes, and carrots, although it’s not suitable for lengthwise sweet potato slicing.
