Both the larger HomePod and HomePod Mini are robust smart speakers that enable you to access various audio sources— such as music, podcasts, news, weather, and general information—using voice commands directed to Siri. Both devices also function as a HomeKit hub, allowing you to control HomeKit devices even when you’re not at home (and receive alerts if anything is amiss), and manage any Automations you’ve set up—such as instructing the lights to turn on at sunset or the shades to rise at dawn. The Mini is a better value, offering the same smart capabilities as the larger version at less than half the cost, and it’s small enough to be placed on a counter, bookshelf, desk, or bedside table.
