A place built for teams
The way people work has evolved, but the office remains a crucial aspect of Google’s culture. Research indicates that innovation often stems from close-knit teams collaborating to achieve significant goals. Thus, at St. John’s Terminal, we have utilized insights into how Google employees work today to develop an environment that prioritizes teams.
St. John’s Terminal will introduce a new shared neighborhood seating concept. Instead of every employee having an assigned desk, each team will have a designated area serving as its central space. These neighborhoods are not one-size-fits-all; they offer a variety of desks, meeting rooms, phone booths, and communal tables to accommodate the diverse tasks Googlers undertake daily. In previous offices where we tested shared neighborhoods, employees shared that these new spaces encouraged greater social interaction and team unity.
