Back in 2016, WhatsApp introduced text formatting and is now trialing additional formatting choices for Android and iOS users who are part of the beta program.
WhatsApp beta users on Android and iOS can now highlight a part of the message using ‘>’, and create bulleted lists with ‘-‘ or ‘*’. Numbered lists can be formed by simply writing a number before the message. The screenshot below demonstrates how this works.
These new text formatting options are currently available for Android users with version 2.24.2.9 of the WhatsApp beta app and version 23.21.1.75 for iOS. It is expected that they will roll out on the stable channel in the upcoming weeks.
