Xbox players of Halo Infinite are demanding that cross-platform multiplayer be disabled due to an increase in cheating by PC players.
Gamers have taken to social media to highlight the presence of aimbots and wall hacks in the PC version of the game, making it unfair for Xbox players who cannot filter out these cheats during their multiplayer sessions.
In some cases, cheaters are attempting to cover up their actions by blocking video replays of their activities in Theatre Mode, according to reports on Reddit and Twitter.
Currently, there is no option for Xbox players to play exclusively with other Xbox players. However, cheating is still possible on Xbox consoles, although it is less common, often facilitated by custom third-party controllers.
The lack of a recognized anti-cheat platform on PC, such as Anti-Cheat, may contribute to the issue, as the developer 343 Industries is currently using a server-side system that is not adequately detecting cheaters, as reported by The Verge.
It is troubling to see cheating become prevalent at such an early stage following the game’s release on November 15, disrupting the fair play experience.
Halo: Infinite is not alone in facing this issue, as developers of popular multiplayer titles like Call of Duty, Destiny, and PUBG are also struggling to address cheating and modding.
While the developers of Call of Duty have been actively addressing these issues, it appears that the makers of Halo: Infinite are facing a significant challenge in preventing these unfair advantages from ruining the gaming experience.
