YouTube this morning announced YouTube Create, a new app for creators. This app offers a suite of free, easy-to-use tools that allow you to create both short and long videos. The tool aims to address several challenges faced by creators, including the editing process and the ability to leverage creative tools such as stickers, GIFs, and effects.
The company said it consulted 3,000 creators about the development of the new app and designed it according to their feedback.
To use this tool, creators add clips and choose from a variety of editing tools to start creating their videos. This app allows you to split previews, trim clips, and more when putting together videos. Thousands of stickers, GIFs, and effects sets are also available within the app.
Additionally, the app provides access to YouTube’s royalty-free song library, so creators can choose from thousands of songs to complement their videos. The company says all of these songs are copyrighted, giving creators peace of mind when monetizing their videos. Additionally, this tool matches the beat of the song to the video clip to keep everything in sync. This is a feature popularized by TikTok.
The app performs audio cleanup to remove unwanted background sounds, automatically generates captions that can be added to videos with the tap of a button, and exports the final work to the creator’s YouTube channel. You can also do this.
The idea of offering a separate app for creation is popular among the creator community. For example, even though TikTok has a large number of built-in effects, many creators rely on ByteDance’s other creative app, CapCut, to prepare their TikTok videos.
The new app, originally available for Android, is available in beta today in eight markets around the world: the US, Germany, France, UK, Indonesia, India, South Korea, and Singapore.
The company says it will continue to expand the app’s functionality and offer it to more creators over time.
